Swetang Khambhatwala
Senior Clinical Trial Leader
Which Cambridge do you work from and how long have you been with F-star?
I joined F-star in Jan 2021 and I work from Cambridge UK office located at Babraham Research Campus.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a biotech enthusiast with the background in pharmacy and pharmacology. Being born and brought up in a small village in India and having suffered from water and air-borne disorders, I always wanted to contribute towards the healthcare industry. After moving to the UK in 2008 to pursue a master’s in pharmacology, I have spent about 9 years at various global pharmaceutical/biotech companies to contribute towards transforming science into medicine, mainly within clinical development.
What is a typical day like for you at F-star?
As a Sr. Clinical Trial Leader on multiple studies, there is no such thing as a typical day at F-star Therapeutics. It can range from writing a protocol or ICF for any study to working with a QA Director to perform vendor landscape assessment. Overall, I provide operational expertise, oversight, direction and leadership to cross functional teams including third party vendors to execute the clinical trials in line with the clinical development plan.
What’s your role at the company?
I am a Sr. Clinical Trial Leader supporting development of FS222 and FS120 assets.
What do you most enjoy about the F-star culture?
I wanted to join a start up biotech to have a greater impact at a smaller company. F-star enables that by empowering and trusting in the individual ability of each team member to make decisions without going through multiple committees. We also have a very friendly, highly team-spirited, and inclusive environment where I can be myself and question assumptions.
What are your favorite hobbies?
Cricket, socializing, reading, and community work.
