Which Cambridge do you work from and how long have you been with F-star?
I joined F-star in 2011 so am just coming up to the 10-year mark. I am based in Cambridge UK and spilt my time between home and the Babraham Research Campus. When I started at F-star I was working as a scientist in the labs doing Fcab discovery on one of our partner programs. Over the years I progressed through scientific project leadership and project management roles getting to learn about our platform, pipeline and our exciting science.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up moving between Scotland and America, I have lived in over 20 houses along the way.
What’s your role at the company?
I lead the portfolio and project management group at F-star, this involves working with many different teams across the organization to ensure that the projects and pipeline are delivered efficiently. In addition, we work on alliance management to ensure that F-star and our collaboration partners get the most out of the work that we do together.
What are you working on currently?
We are deep in budgeting, planning, and setting goals for the future years. This is all done with a focus on how to develop the best treatments for cancer patients.
How would you describe the F-star culture?
F-star is a fun place to work where you feel the teams really driving together for a common goal.
What do you enjoy most about the F-star culture?
The collaborative spirit.
Who had the greatest influence on you in your career?
My family! From watching my parents in their careers and on to my husband who supports me in everything I do, also my kids who inspire me to work hard but also remember to preserve a work life balance.
What do you enjoy most about your work at F-star?
The people are fantastic and over the 10 years I have been at F-star I have been exposed to lots of opportunities to both contribute to the success of F-star and to develop in my career and made some good friends along the way.
What activities do you enjoy when you’re not working?
When I am not working, the thing I enjoy most is spending time with my two boys, watching them develop and seeing the world through their inquisitive eyes. I also enjoy cooking, running and reading.
